Academics are our top priority at St. John’s and designed to stretch the mental abilities of each student. St. John’s takes great pride in being on the top academic military schools in the country. More than 90 percent of St. John’s graduates go on to institutions of higher learning. This superior academic performance is a result of a low student-to-teacher ratio, single-sex boy-centered education, and a structured learning environment.
Your son’s teachers will focus on him as an individual. They will learn his strengths, weaknesses, and learning style while working to develop the “whole boy.” The staff and faculty at St. John’s are fully invested in the success of every cadet. Each young man is assigned a faculty advisor and a military advisor. These advisors monitor each student’s academic progress and personal development, as well as offer moral support. Advisors have daily contact with cadets and communicate with parents regularly through phone calls and emails. With very few exceptions, every student who attends St. John’s improves his grade point average by one point or more in his first semester.
St. John’s Military School takes great pride in that approximately 90 percent of all graduating cadets continue their education in institutions of higher learning. St. John’s maintains a staff to assist cadets in submitting college applications and the references and other supporting documents necessary to increase the likelihood of their acceptance to that college. Additionally, this staff serves to assist graduates in applying for the scholarships and financial aid available to them.
College Credit Courses
St. John’s offers qualified students the opportunity to earn college credit during their senior year in high school. Offered through Kansas State University, St. John’s cadets may choose to take Expository Writing, Introduction to Literature, College Algebra and Plane Trigonometry. As a result, a cadet can graduate from St. John’s with a full semester of college completed.
St. John’s is proud to partner with many foundations to provide funding for candidates wishing to attend our military school. The foundation seeks to provide educational opportunities for the children of our military service families. We also have partnerships with K-State Polytechnic Enrollment and Salina Area Technical College to provide concurrent credit options for our students.
Honesty, Dignity, Pride
The mission of St. John’s Military School is to provide each cadet with the opportunity to grow spiritually, morally, intellectually and physically in a structured environment.
